Nin Yee Lock was born in the southern part of China on February 19, 1923. She was the oldest of four children. She passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on Monday, October 10, 2016.
Nin Yee was a widow when she immigrated to the United States in the late 1960s, arriving in the San Francisco Bay area after being sponsored by her sister, Kam Low. During a trip to visit relatives in Seattle, she was introduced to Mr. Gim Lun Wong, a widower with two sons (Bing and James). Not too long after their introduction to one another, Nin Yee and Gim Lun decided to get married. They lived together as a family until Gim Lun unexpectedly passed away in February 1983.
Nin Yee worked many years as a seamstress for Seattle's Roffe, Incorporated, sewing high end ski wear and other garments. After she retired, Nin Yee enjoyed: taking senior citizen cruises, travelling to Las Vegas and Reno, spending time with friends and family, and caring for and watching her grandson, Calvin, grow up into a young man.
Nin Yee is survived by her youngest son (James), her grandson (Calvin) from her oldest son (Bing), her daughter-in-law (Shu Ke), her youngest brother (Tony), her younger sister (Kam), and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in the memory of Nin Yee Wong may be made to Seattle's Legacy House (the assisted living facility she lived in before her hospitalization) or to Seattle's Keiro Northwest (the rehabilitation facility she lived in after her discharge from the hospital until the time of her passing.
